CRIMSON Named a 2024 Good Food Award Winner

Columbus, OH (May, 1 2024)––CRIMSON is proud to announce it won a 2024 Good Food Award this past weekend for its OneGuatemala Finca El Morito coffee––sourced by Jorge De Leon Jr. and grown by Roberto Monterroso in the department of Jalapa.

The Good Food Awards is one of the highest honors in the food and beverage industry.

CRIMSON is no stranger to this award, having won in 2020 with its Ethiopia coffee Kossa Kebena

“We are super proud to bring home a Good Food Award for this exceptional coffee. Roberto is a visionary in his field who brought to life a coffee that is sweet, delicate and delicious. We are grateful for the opportunity to roast and compete with it, and share it with our community of coffee lovers,” said Brandon Bir, CRIMSON director of sustainability and assistant Q instructor.

The Good Food Foundation recognized 215 exceptional food and drink crafters in 18 categories from across the United States as this year’s Good Food Award Winners. CRIMSON is proud to be only one of 12 winners in the coffee category chosen through a rigorous blind tasting and sustainability vetting process from nearly 2,000 entries.

Winners of the Good Food Award not only came out on top in a blind taste test, but also demonstrated an outstanding commitment to sustainable environmental and social practices in the production of their products.

CRIMSON’s Finca El Morito represents everything that this award embodies. From the unique tasting notes of jasmine, white sugar and yuzu, to the ongoing commitment to sustainable practices from our farmers.

Finca El Morito was established more than 25 years ago as a small family business surrounded by mountains in Jalapa, Guatemala. The farm’s main objective is to differentiate itself through environmentally friendly processes and especially to regenerate areas affected by the deforestation of trees. The harvest at El Morito is overseen by Roberto and his chief agronomist who are both meticulous about how the coffee cherries are picked as they believe this is the one step that will determine the future of that year’s production.

Soon, coffee lovers can try Finca El Morito in CRIMSON stores but only for a limited time. Check CRIMSON’s social media at @crimsoncolumbus for updates on its release.

About CRIMSON

From the small-plot coffee farmers from whom we source to the coffee lovers we serve, bridging communities has been at the heart of what we do for 30 years. We’ve traveled the globe—by plane, boat, bus, jeep, foot, and even mule—to discover exceptional coffee and cultivate long-lasting relationships with the hard-working farmers who grow it. Through our unique Friend2Farmer initiative, we invest in life-enriching projects that promote education, health, sustainability, and economic growth for coffee farming communities. Coffee is much more than an enjoyable beverage—it’s a collaborative experience where every participant is vital, from the grower to the roaster to the barista to the drinker. Each one has a lasting impact on the economic growth of coffee growing communities in Ethiopia, Kenya, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru and beyond. For more information: https://crimsoncoffee.com/
