ChemEx Coffee Maker - 6 Cup

$47.00

Description

A Chemex a manual pour-over coffee maker that's known for its elegant design and ability to produce a consistently good cup of coffee

Design - The Chemex is a single piece of glass with a conical shape, a narrow neck, and a wooden collar. The classic design has a wooden handle, but more recent models have a glass handle.

Brewing - The Chemex uses a pour-over method, where water passes through coffee and a filter. The Chemex comes with special double-bonded paper filters that are thicker than typical coffee filters, which removes oils and sediment from the coffee.

History - The Chemex was invented in 1941 by German chemist Peter J. Schlumbohm. It's been in production ever since and is one of the few coffee makers to be displayed in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Coffee quality - The Chemex produces a light-bodied brew that's clean and flavorful.

Brewing tips - To brew coffee with a Chemex, you'll need a Chemex, filter, kettle, coffee, grinder, scale, and timer. A recommended coffee to water ratio is 17:1. If your coffee doesn't drain fast enough, you can try switching to a coarser grind setting.
