Alo Coffee was founded by Tamiru Tadesse in 2020 to focus on the production and export of high-quality and competition coffees from Bensa, Sidama. Tamiru, who was born in Bensa, was inspired to start the company after a friend won the Cup of Excellence in 2020. Tamiru’s washing station in Alo kebele buys cherry from elevations that until recently—as a result of climate change—had been unable to support the cultivation of coffee.
